What about TotalFinder and XtraFinder?

Both inject features directly into Finder rather than replacing it — and on modern macOS that requires disabling System Integrity Protection, a security layer you should not turn off for a file manager. They were great in their era; that era ended. Every app above works on a stock, fully protected system.

How to actually choose
